Bangladesh will form a Jute Council to develop the jute sector, textiles and jute minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak recently told the AGM of the Bangladesh Jute Mills Association. He has ordered stopping the use of 50-kg polythene bags. The Conference Board leading economic index for China fell by 0.2 per cent in March to 151.5, after a downwardly revised 0.3 per cent February drop. Its coincident economic index for the country also fell by 1.7 per cent in March to 146.4, more than reversing a 0.7 per cent February rise. India's GDP growth is projected to be 6.6 per cent in FY25 backed by consumption expenditure, a rebound in exports and capital flows, Deloitte India said. It is estimated to be 6.75 per cent in FY26.
