National Lampoon + Kevin Dillon = A 300 Spoof
Remedial math.
It might look like random gibberish typed by monkeys, but National Lampoon's 301: The Legend of Awesomest Maximus Wallace Leonidas is actually the title of an upcoming movie. And Kevin Dillon will be starring in it.

Variety reports that Dillon, best known for his role as Johnny "Drama" Chase on HBO's Entourage, will be strapping on sandals and hoisting a sword as a "bumbling Spartan general who fails upward in his quest for greatness" in the National Lampoon film, which will spoof 300, Troy, Gladiator, and Braveheart. From the article:

Fans of "Entourage" will chuckle at Dillon's emergence as a period action hero, since his Johnny "Drama" Chase character found his early glory days starring in a short-lived cult series called "Viking Quest." Drama's frequent cries of his signature line "Victory!" are often replicated on ESPN's "SportsCenter" broadcasts, among other places.

"Kevin is perfect for this role," said Lampoon's Justin Kanew.

The report goes on to warn readers of further Lampoon projects in the pipeline, including National Lampoon's Bagboy, National Lampoon's Ratko, National Lampoon Presents the Beach Party at the Threshold of Hell, and November's Les Claypool-directed (and toplined) National Lampoon Presents Electric Apricot: Quest for Festeroo.

Why even use the tag "National Lampoon" anymore? It's lost any sembalance of respectability. Now it just means, "Warning: Crappy Movie Ahead."

Isn't there enough crap taking up the shelves at our local video rental shops? Honestly, it's hard enough to scan over "Jesus Is Magic" and "Santa's Slay" without having to put up with another National Lampoon film. We get it. You suck. Stop wasting your money trying to prove to us what you've done oodles (is it hundreds yet?) of times: your films are a hollow mockery of what American Cinema should be. I weep for comedy...

Um, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't "300" practically a spoof already? (a spoof on epic action movies?) It was so laughably GOOD... with the terrible dialogue and shallow characters, yet great action, etc. I feel as if a spoof would have nothing more to add that the movie hasn't already done.

Terrible dialogue?? Frank Miller has awesome dialogue. "If they assassinate me, the whole of Sparta goes to war. Pray they are that stupid; pray we are that lucky." There are so many great lines in that movie.

And jasper I think you're forgetting the BEST spoof movie: Scary Movie.

It's official. Hollywood has totally lost their imagination and their mind.

"Pray they are that stupid; pray we are that lucky?" Um, NO ONE TALKS LIKE THAT. It's so preachy and pedantic. Okay, okay, I know we could get into a whole argument about how the ancient Greeks DID talk like this, but no one knows ultimately (and even ancient Greek prose isn't a great indicator). I prefer realistic dialogue, always. If we're hearing them speak in English (when they would've spoken in Greek), we might as well hear them speak in our common vernacular so we relate to them even more. As it is...

"Pray we are that stupid; pray we are that lucky," is pathetic dialogue to me. And that's just one example; there were so many times I laughed out loud. Which is why I liked that movie, I suppose.

Its official. Someone said, "It's official. Hollywood has totally lost their imagination and their mind". It wouldn't be a normal day unless someone from RT said such a thing.

Way to go.

This is going to suck. Talk about jumping on the bandwagon too late. The internet is finally getting over these stupid 300 mashup trailers.

Sounds like a straight to video flop. 300 has too many fans to make it a joke yet. Still, 300 was a movie based on a comic book so anything is up for grabs.

Witherwings, you're awesome. Whenever I take these clowns on about 300 I get responses like "u must not hav testicles". Umm let me check. Yes I do. But I still laughed all the way through 300.

300 was interesting. It was obviously silly and all. Its just all the male muscle that was shown. I didn't know whether or not to feel masculant and manly or homosexual.

If Dillon does yell VICTORY I might be game.

Yeah, why do they still make movies like this? Reading the description it almost sounds like a "written by x/10000 of the writers of scary movie"

do you use obscure or what some might call "big" words to make you feel smarter than others who post on this board or do you just hope to confuse people into thinking you are making a valid point when really you're just talking out of your ***? 300 was in no way a spoof, it was the story of one of the greatest military battles in the history of our world...granted it was pretty inaccurate to the actual events of the battle, but none the less the while i can't agree that the script was oscar worthy by any means lets keep in mind that it was in fact an adaptation of the graphic novel. Onto the whole National Lampoon making **** movies...this is true, but they did give us Van Wilder (probably their last decent flick), which gave us Kal Penn (if you disagree you probably haven't seen the namesake) and made Ryan Reynolds a star (some my agrue that this was a curse not a blessing...and it was the last time Tara Reid looked good...damn good!
