Is there anything you can do to prevent tarnish from forming on sterling-silver jewelry?

All silver will tarnish when it is exposed to air and light, but here's how to keep your jewelry looking attractive longer: Wash each piece with warm water and gently rub with a bit of mild soap. Rinse every nook and cranny, and pat dry with a clean, soft cloth. Store each piece in its own tarnish-proof bag (sold at jewelry stores) and keep in a cool, dry spot. Take off your jewelry before you work around the house. Household chemicals can damage silver.
