Cluster flies
Cluster flies are dark grey flies about 8mm long. In autumn they cluster in large numbers in upstairs rooms or lofts to hibernate and are known for their distinctive smell and sluggish flight, which makes them a nuisance in households.
Please be aware that we only treat cluster flies and can't help with treatment of house flies or blue bottles.

What happens at your appointment
On our first visit, the pest control officer will do some routine checks of the premise to identify where the flies are and how they will be treated.
After this, the officer will lay the chosen insecticide. They will then give you some advice on how to prevent the problem, which may include making repairs.
Usually the pest control officer will only need to visit once as the treatment lasts between six and 12 weeks. If needed, we can arrange a follow up.

We don't recommend that you use DIY treatment as it can be dangerous to the environment, yourself, children and pets.
How to prevent a cluster fly problem
The best way to combat cluster flies is to keep your property clean.
Do
- clean up spills and food waste
- store food in clean, lidded bins
- remove dead flies
Why cluster flies are a problem
Although cluster flies don't pose a huge health risk to humans, they can spread other disease and contaminate food.
They can also be a nuisance as they usually travel in large swarms of thousands of flies.
