The Denver Nuggets will continue to honor their last season in the ABA by wearing their road uniforms from 1975-76 against the San Antonio Spurs on Friday, Apr. 1 on ESPN (10:30 p.m. ET). The Nuggets have been wearing the uniforms at times this season as part of NBA Hardwood Classics Nights.

Love 'em or hate 'em, the looks the Nuggets have sported since the team's inception in the ABA have been as distinctive as the high scoring teams wearing them. Here we take a look back at some of the uniforms the team has worn in its history.

The Early Years
The Denver teams of yesteryear have donned all the colors of the rainbow, literally. Sure, you remember the skyline uniforms of the 80s, but do you recall when the team was called the Denver Rockets in the early '70s and suited up in purple, formally known as Columbine blue and gold?

Mining For Gold
After seven seasons as the Rockets in the ABA, Denver renamed its club the Nuggets and changed its uniforms and logos to feature a pick axe on the chest. Trading for Kentucky's Dan Issel, the Nuggets rode "the Horse" to the 1976 ABA Finals, the final season before joining the NBA.

New Look Nuggets
The Nuggets used the Maxie Miner logo through the early 1980's, which can be seen on the leg of David Thompson's shorts, but the team changed uniforms in the late 1970's. The Nuggets wore white jerseys with "Nuggets" written across the chest for home games and blue jerseys with the city name across the chest when on the road.

A Rainbow of Colors
In the early 1980's, the Nuggets made a dramatic change to their team logo and uniform. Here Dan Issel goes in for the layup wearing the first of Denver's "rainbow" road uniforms featuring the city's skyline across the jersey.

Denver Has The Blues
In the late 1980's, the Nuggets updated their road look, switching to blue jerseys on the road. At home the team continued to wear white jerseys. Dikembe Mutombo donned the rainbow look for a stretch during his five years in Denver.

Solid Gold
The Nuggets again switched their look in the early 1990's, opting for blue, gold and red on the road, while continuing to wear the customary white at home. Antonio McDyess wore the new look during two stays in the decade with the club. The Nuggets logo was also changed to feature the words "Denver Nuggets" in front of a snow-capped mountain peak.

Now Introducing ...
During the summer of 2003, the Nuggets welcomed Carmelo Anthony, the third overall pick in the NBA Draft, with a new look uniform. The gear the team unveiled featured an updated color scheme of dark blue, light blue and gold. The team's logo remained unchanged with the exception of the color variation.
