    Dermatology Credentialed Veterinary Technician

    About the Position: To provide veterinary nursing care specific to the Dermatology service.

    • Schedule appointments/work with client liaison for schedule coordination
    • Obtain a comprehensive history from clients, including TPR & weight
    • Admit and/or discharge patients
    • Hold/restraint of patients
    • Venipuncture (including IV/IM/SQ injections, IV catheter placement)
    • Able to administer medications via PO, SQ, IM, or IV
    • Have comprehensive knowledge of basic monitoring for patients under sedation
    • Participate in a double check system for prescriptions /refills
    • Prepare samples / prescriptions for shipping
    • Patient workups/assist with procedures
    • Create estimates for procedures and inpatients and submit for clinician approval

    • Enter charges for client invoice for both inpatients and outpatients

    Shift: Fulltime (40 hours) benefit position within the Dermatology service. Days, Monday to Thursday.

    Personal Requirements:

    • Minimum of 18 years old
    • Minimum 3 years working as a Veterinary Technician
    • Ideally should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in Dermatology or related specialty medicine

    Emergency & Critical Care Credentialed Technician Supervisor

    Position Overview:

    The ECC Technician Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the ECC & Urgent Care departments. This position will be a working supervisor; with time both on and off the floor. Working on the floor performing all Technician responsibilities, modeling best practices in client/patient interactions with team members, observing and coaching team members on their clinical skills, knowledge, and patient care, ensuring efficient workflows and high standard of patient care being followed, and building good working interpersonal relationships between ECC and Urgent Care with all other services. The ECC Technician Supervisor also plays a vital role in building and maintaining a healthy culture throughout the hospital. This position supports and reports to the Clinical Services Manager.

    This position requires someone who is organized, confident, and can maintain professionalism in tense situations, is invested in the success of the ECC and Urgent Care departments as well as the hospital, leads effectively and thoughtfully, is a champion through change, and possesses the ability to solve complex problems. A high level of emotional intelligence is key to succeed in this role. The ECC Technician Supervisor must be committed to controlling their emotions in a high stress environment and navigating interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically. One must have the ability to navigate difficult conversations while being aware of body language, tone, and words to ensure an approachable and optimistic interaction. This includes deescalating employee conflict and gossip in a constructive and productive way.

    Responsibilities:

    • Perform all essential duties and tasks required of an ER/ICU/Urgent Care Veterinary Technician.
    • Motivate, inspire, and empower team members.
    • Ensure optimal patient care by providing clear expectations and direction for team members.
    • Provide team members with coaching and training that are in line with hospital expectations.
    • Monitor and give frequent feedback to team members to ensure they deliver exceptional client and patient nursing care.
    • Conducts performance evaluations with the Clinical Services Managers support.
    • Develop departmental policies and procedures.
    • Provide conflict resolution both internally and externally.
    • Maintains the schedule for ECC and Urgent Care that provides appropriate and adequate coverage for both services.
    • Participates and oversees the ECC on-call schedule for staffing needs such as callouts and open shift coverage, and any shift concerns.
    • Participate in callout and open shift coverage.
    • Work required shift schedule including weekends and holiday coverage.
    • Assist with disciplinary actions when necessary/appropriate (with management approval).
    • Interview applicants for positions within the ECC and Urgent Care departments.
    • Assists and oversees with onboarding and training of new hires within the ECC and Urgent Care departments.
    • Facilitates and promotes individual growth and development goals/plans for team members within the ECC and Urgent Care services.
    • Assist in the resolution of problems/issues between team members with tact and professionalism.
    • Act as an advocate for the ECC and Urgent Care services.
    • Meet regularly with the Clinical Services Manager and Hospital Director of Operations.
    • Encourage collaboration and build strong inter-departmental relationships.
    • Maintain positive rapport between all hospital team members and clients.
    • Communicate openly, effectively, and regularly with all management/supervisors and specialists.
    • Delegate responsibilities including projects to the ECC Lead Technicians.
    • Meet regularly with the ECC Lead Technicians and Shift Coordinators.
    • Assists the Clinical Services Manager with Payroll time clock review, pay adjustments, and approvals.

    Schedule: TBD. Swing/Overnight hours. Fulltime (36-40 hour) benefit position within the ECC/Urgent Care services including holidays and weekend rotation coverage.

    Education and Licensure Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Degree in Veterinary Technology and/or Animal Science preferred
    • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT)
    • Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) in Emergency & Critical Care desirable

    Experience Requirements:

    • Minimum of 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience
    • Minimum of 5 years working in the veterinary field as a Veterinary Technician
    • Minimum of 3 years working in emergency critical care/urgent care or specialty medicine

    Shift: Day: 7am to 7pm fulltime (36 hour) benefit position within the ECC services including weekend and holiday coverage. Days TBD.

    Personal Requirements:

    • Minimum of 18 years old
    • Minimum 3 years working as a veterinary technician
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in an emergency and/or specialty hospital preferred
    • Graduate from an accredited AVMA program preferred
    • CVT, LVT, RVT, and/or VTS preferred
    • Must have the ability to support and foster an environment of diversity, inclusion, collaboration, and empathy
    • Must have good interpersonal relationship and communication skills
    • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced working environment
    • Is detailed oriented and reliable
    • Has a high commitment to providing exceptional patient care
    • Excellent client communication skills
    • Must be well-spoken, professional, approachable, and maintain a positive outlook
    • Proficient at working with digital records and using Microsoft Word/Excel
    • Physical Effort: Work requires lifting, carrying, and restraining animals (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs.). Walks or stands for extended periods or time; frequently works in a bent position.

    Compensation: Is based on education, experience, credentials, and skill level.
