Greetings, LinkedIn people. I'm beginning work on an extremely cool new project for a Fortune 500 company you will definitely recognize, and I'm building a team of writers during the coming weeks to help create a collection of articles and guides related to moving — like, moving to a new residence or home. The focus, at least to start, is spotlighting the best moving services, advice, and related information in a few major US cities and metro areas, but this is just the beginning of what should be a massive content push related to local businesses and services in American cities. This is easily the most exciting project I've worked on in years, the people already involved are A++, and there is a pile of potential. To start, the writing assignments are freelance, but that could change quickly and open up to full-time opportunities. Some knowledge and/or experience covering moving is a plus but not necessarily required if you've got the proper research chops. I plan to post a formal job listing with details that I can share soon, but if you want to learn more now and possibly join me and my team in this endeavor, message, and let's talk. Also, I would greatly appreciate any shares you're willing to part with, so this message can reach writers in your network. Thanks muchly in advance, and I hope your day is one to remember, in the best way.
Hi, Al, and thanks for sharing this exciting project. Count me in! Oh the times, I’ve moved. Would love to help with writing and research. How best to get in touch?
I've lived in Los Angeles for fifteen years and have moved almost every other year; would love to lend some firsthand writing experience to this project if needed!
Let me in!!! I have entirely too much IRL experience moving (and renovating, and rehabbing), was a realtor and worked in relo for awhile, AND have done a ton of ghostwriting for movers and shakers, storage services, relo tips, you name it, I've written about it. All over the US. And i"m a research hound.
Feel free to reach out to me sometime over DM. Wouldn't mind hearing more details. I'm still looking for more work, freelance or otherwise.
How not to move stories? I've got some of those, which includes what questions to ask your insurance agent about whether the contents you're moving are covered under your homeowners' policy. I've also tried some atypical moving, such as Amtrak freight and checking some framed art on an airline. Interesting project.
I am just stoked that you landed on your feet my man. I don't know a lot about moving, but if the price is right, I can research. :D We are connected, so please feel free to reach out once assignments start to clarfiy
Congrats man!! I'm at 3 cross country moves, two international moves and 3 major cities in the past 8 years. Happy to help however I can!!
Would love to contribute
I create content that people insist on reading all the way to the end.
1moOh my, I absolutely can speak to this. I have way too much experience with moving -- including five moves in three years, back when I lived in Maine. Before we bought our house 18 years ago, we moved nine (more) times. I also worked for U-Haul International way back in the 80s. That primed me to pay attention to packing material ever since. (Weigh every item in your hands. If it costs $1/pound to move this hardback novel... do you love it $3? Are you SURE you want to keep it?) Plus I successfully moved my grandmother's handblown Venetian wine glasses without breaking a single one. So yeah pick me pick me pick me. Or pack me pack me pack me.
