Fairy Birthday Party
Inspired by both the dainty size of garden fairies and the plants around them, we created a menu of small bites as pretty as a field of flowers.
Mac and Broccoli Cheese Cups look right at home in a fairy garden when baked in green foil wrappers then placed in over-sized flower-shaped liners. Make these the day before and bake just before the party!
Equally as lovely are these fruit flowers made from watermelon, grapes and kiwi. To assemble, cut out flower shapes from two-inch slices of watermelon using a cookie cutter. Next, cut a hole in the middle of each flower and insert a grape. We used green, but purple and red grapes would also be pretty. Finally, cut leaf shapes from kiwi and thread on a bamboo skewer, followed by the start of the flower, then the grape and the rest of the flower (take care not to poke through the top of the flower!).
Mini corn dogs and honey mustard are a known favorite of fairies and are even more fun when served up on a flower platter! Store-bought strawberry lemonade in mismatched juice glasses keeps the party light and fun while these birch-inspired paper straws add an element of whimsy.
Fairy Birthday Cake
No party is complete without a birthday cake, and this
Fairy Cake creation is simply magical! It’s made easy with Betty Crocker cake mix, ready-made frosting and lots of candy and sprinkles. Our favorite part is the mushroom cottage made from two cupcakes and a rolled-out gumdrop!
Fairy Birthday Decorations
We set the table with a preserved moss liner from a local craft store. Next we added tiny potted plants at each place setting, mix-and-match cups and plates and bamboo forks.
For an extra dose of sweetness, we added butterfly name tags made with sparkle letter stickers and created mushroom seats by wrapping stool seats in bright red fabric and topping with white dots cut from sheets of craft foam.
Fairy Birthday Favors
Fairies, cupcakes and jellybeans—what could be sweeter? We found these clear takeout containers at a craft store and knew immediately we had to fill them with mushroom cupcakes (made with Betty Crocker cake mix, ready-made frosting tinted red, and white-coated candies).
To assemble, add a layer of jellybeans, one regular cupcake, one mini cupcake and a fairy—we found ours at a dollar store. To finish, tie with sparkle ribbon and adorn with a nametag and a colorful butterfly.
