This Dutch Braid Ponytail Is Way Easier Than It Looks

If the last time you wore braided pigtails was when Osh Kosh and Little Bear ruled your life, you're missing out on easily the best hairstyle for disguising dirty, lifeless, and blah hair. And thanks to its messy braids and wrapped ponytail, this style is nothing like the playground favorite from your childhood.

The steps:

1.Using your fingers, make a messy part hair down the center and back of your head.

2.Starting on one side of the part, take a two-inch section of hair near your hairline and loosely Dutch-braid it (i.e., cross the pieces of hair under rather than over to make the braid pop out). Continue braiding to the nape of your neck and tie it off with a clear elastic. Repeat on the other side.

3.Join the braided ponytails in back and tie them together with another clear elastic.

4.Pull gently on the edges of the braids to fatten them up and give them a thicker, messier feel, then tug the hair at your crown for added volume.

5.Take a small piece of hair from the ponytail and wrap it around the elastic, then slide a bobby pin through the hair and elastic for hold.
