Student Services and Data Exchange

BCcampus provides valuable online student services - admissions applications, course directory, course record and transferability guide, transcript exchange, virtual library - using a secure connector system that accesses real-time student data. This data exchange system also allows institutions to generate up-to-date reports regarding recruitment, applications, learning resources and more. Because database duplication is eliminated, both cost and time are saved.

ApplyBC

ApplyBC is an online tool that lets students across the province apply to any of B.C.'s public post-secondary institutions through a single portal. ApplyBC collects the applicant's basic personal information and submits it as a common form to institutions of the applicant's choice, beginning the application process. ApplyBC helps more than 100,000 prospective students apply to their chosen institution each year and supports enrolment management across the system.

CoursesBC

CoursesBC is powerful dual-purpose tool useful to academic advisors, students and prospective students. At its heart is a province-wide directory of online and distance courses available at B.C.'s public post-secondary institutions. This information is updated every 24 hours from most participating institutions.

Users are also given the option of entering specific course information (course code and institution) to bring up a list of equivalent courses at other B.C. public post-secondary institutions. This course transfer information is synchronzed with the B.C. Transfer Database, a system supported by the BC Council on Admissions and Transfer. For those seeking online programs, a link to Education Planner is provided.

MyCreditsBC

MyCreditsBC allows students to easily retrieve their unofficial course record from the B.C. public post-secondary institutions they have attended. They can then view course-by-course transferability according to the B.C. Transfer Database, a system supported by the BC Council on Admissions and Transfer. Transcript information is retrieved in real time from each connected institution's student information system as the request is made.

Transcript Exchange

Transcript Exchange is a service that replaces paper transcripts with electronic versions when official student transcripts are exchanged between participating institutions. BCcampus is a member of the Post-secondary Electronic Standards Council (PESC) and uses PESC standards for this mechanism, currently in production for Douglas College, Kwantlen Polytechnic University and Simon Fraser University. Work is underway to extend implementation to other B.C. public post-secondary institutions.

AskAway

AskAway is a virtual library service, developed by the Electronic Library Network of B.C. and partially funded by BCcampus. Post-secondary students, faculty and staff can email questions regarding books, articles, or other research items and receive real-time responses. AskAway is available at all B.C. colleges and universities.

BC Learning Gateway

When complete, BC's Learning Gateway will be a technical tool that exchanges information and services between multiple education sources. Currently the BC Learning Gateway is in concept development phase. The Gateway will be a unified information hub that gathers and disseminates higher education services, resources, courses, edu-tech applications and tools to BC's students and citizens. A release date has not yet been established for the first Gateway prototype.
