We just learned that Automattic has released a native WordPress client for Android. Like Android, the app is an open source project and anyone can add contributions. The app looks quite similar to the unofficial wpToGo and we think that dev was probably involved in this project. A full review will come later, but we wanted to let everyone know the app is now available in the Android Market. If you have a blog powered by WordPress, give it a go and let us know what you think.
Update: Dan Roundhill, the dev of wpToGo, is behind this project. His app wpToGo will be discontinued as all development efforts move forward with the Open Source WordPress for Android app.

Is there ever going to be a blogger app? I mean seriously!
Blogger/Blogspot is horrible.
True, but it is a Google service. They should show it a little love.
The guy who developed wpToGo was DEFINITELY assisting with this. It looks very similar.
Cool, just installed it. Wonder if there will be any way to view stats in the future through it.
This looks almost the same as wpToGo, my god. Wasn’t that guy working at wordpress?
All this does is FC and freeze for me on Magic with stock 1.6. I’ma restart and try again. Otherwise I’ll be sending them logs.
Might have been a better experience if it had a default blog url and guest password, wired in. Comes up blank and does not allow browse to a url. Functional but not user friendly. Has a limited set of html commands.ok so I am not impressed. Good first cut, but not much.
Just downloaded the wp app, its great. Loving my motodext and android even more!
how do I “scan to download”?
Run a barcode scanning app (I recommend Barcode Scanner, as the best one), and aim your camera at the QR code near the top of the article (it’s that blotchy black and white square thing).
Great article. There is a lot of good information here, though I did want to let you know something – I am running Redhat with the latest beta of Firefox, and the look and feel of your blog is kind of bizarre for me. I can read the articles, but the navigation doesnt function so great.
Where to find the RSS-Feed link?
WordPress is getting bigger with releasing its application for all the popular platform.
I have an iPhone for now and Im using iPhone wordpress application which is useful..
Will be getting an android phone in coming week and Im sure this application is going to be a part of it..
Meanwhile is there anything else which you are missing in this application?
This is something cool especially for bloggers. I think I have to try this. I have my iphone and sill start installing android. Wish me luck!

That’s amazing
Excellent blog! Do you have any tips and hints for aspiring writers? I’m hoping to start my own blog soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you suggest starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m totally overwhelmed .. Any ideas? Cheers!
I have this on my Milestone and my Toshiba Folio.
