Regent Street: Shoppers flee electrical fire beneath pavement

An electrical junction box caught fire beneath the pavement of Regent Street in central London.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called 24 times over the "very visible fire", which began at the junction of Maddox Street at about 11:20 BST.

The blaze was under control by 12:46. No-one was injured but the high voltage box was badly damaged, LFB said.
