The time has come again: It's Super Bowl season! Even if your favorite team was out of the running a long ago, it's still a fun event where you can celebrate and eat. A lot. Oh, and watch the game, too.

Whether you're throwing a small gathering or a big party, we rounded up some Super Bowl hosting tips to get you ready for the big day. And to give you a head start, here are some of our favorite Super Bowl recipes including appetizers, desserts, and even healthy snacks.

1

Prepare food ahead of time.

When it comes to hosting, preparing ahead of time is key. And when it comes to the Super Bowl, no one wants to miss out on the game. These are some of the best Super Bowl recipes that can be made in a Crockpot and Instant Pot.

2

Lean into themed food.

You don't have to have a million football-shaped dishes, but come on! This is the time to get totally cheesy and go all out on some team- and sports-themed food. These football cookies are a great way to start.

3

Have plenty of canned drinks on hand.

Checking drinks off your list is the easiest thing you'll do for your party. Make sure you have a wide variety from IPAs to canned cocktails.

Have games at the ready.

Even the most thrilling football games can get a little tiresome after a while. Have a few low-key games set up so those who are inspired to get athletic before, during, or after the Super Bowl have something to do. Try this Super Bowl drinking game.

5

Make Super Bowl squares.

One of the best games is creating your own Super Bowl squares board, and you can totally get everyone in on the fun online. Here's a super useful tutorial!

Pre-made cocktails are still your friend.

Again, even if it's just you and your live-in fam, make sure you're not playing bartender all night. You'll miss all the fun! Make an easy refillable cocktail that you can all drink from all night, like this touchdown punch (it can be scaled down if needed!). Jell-O shots work well, too.

8

Make a snack stadium.

How cool is this? If you're crafty enough, making a stadium to hold things like chips and dip will put your party over the top. Plus you can probably re-use it next year when we can (hopefully!) actually have people over! You can read more about how to make one here.

9

Keep frozen food handy.

If the day comes and you don't feel like cooking or maybe you even RUN OUT OF SNACKS (the horror!), make sure you have a few backups handy.

Mix and match!

There's no need to make a million different things, especially for a small event. Make a few dips (like this 7-layer dip) and then have a few different snacks for dipping (chips, crackers, pita), so you can create different flavor combos without making too much.

Don't let whatever you're cooking get on your favorite jersey! That's GOTTA be bad luck on game day! Snag this apron that you can twirl around during your victory dance.

Crown your favorite snacks.

Getting the whole family involved in cooking can be fun AND take the weight off of one person's shoulders. At the end, you can award "snack superlatives" to your faves!

Activities like Super Bowl commercial bingo are a great way to make sure everyone can get in on the fun...even if they don't love sports. Again, don't be afraid to get virtual guests in the game too!

Don't forget the air fryer!

Nothing makes crispier, crunchier snacks than the air fryer!
