Pixie cuts are all the rage these days, but do you have the right look for the cut? We’re talking to a hairstylist to find out what pixie will work for your face shape and how to style yours once you’ve made the cut.

Once you’re all set with your face shape, there are a few things to consider before you head to the salon. We got Matrix Celebrity Hairstylist George Papanikolas to offer some of his best tips for what pixie cut to choose for your unique face shape and how to style your new ‘do.
An oval face

According to Papanikolas, you’re pretty lucky if you’ve got an oval-shaped face. “They can wear pretty much any haircut, and they will look great,” he says. Since you’re free to play around with different cuts and styles, get creative and experiment with heavy fringe for your pixie or messy textures.
A round face

To offset the roundness of your lovely visage and add “just the right amount of angles,” Papanikolas recommends asking your stylist for a pixie with an angled side-swept bang. Wearing your pixie straight will also help keep your face from looking even rounder.
A long face

If you’re rocking a long face, a pixie cut should be approached with caution, Papanikolas says, as it might draw too much emphasis to the length of your face. The ideal cut for you? A short bob. But if you’re absolutely set on a pixie, you can make it work as long as you part it on the side to balance things out. Wearing your pixie wavy can also give more width and balance.
A square face

Papanikolas suggests a shaggy pixie for ladies with a square face. The piecey texture will help balance out your stronger jaw line and add nice definition. As with all pixies, make sure you visit your salon every four to six weeks for a trim to maintain the shape.
A heart-shaped face

If your face features a heart shape, bangs will really make your pixie stand out. Papanikolas recommends framing your pretty eyes with a flattering swooping bang. Also, feel free to go pretty short in the back.
A diamond-shaped face

Shine bright with a pixie cut featuring lots of top volume. Another tip Papanikolas offered? Side cropping will flatter your high cheek bones and the angles of your face.
