      My dog does something similar, just lets whatever you throw hit him in the face. He'll move his head towards it but half the time won't even open his mouth, and just let it smack him on the head. He's not a puppy, he's 8, he's just an idiot.

          That sounds like my boy too! He's an 8 year old American Staffordshire Terrier (so, a pit bull), and he is the smartest dumb dog I've ever known. Once, he got some Batman patterned duct tape off a shelf and chewed it up...my husband and I didn't know until way later, because somehow he realized he'd be in trouble if we found it so he put it back on the shelf.

          But then the other day, he fell off the couch trying to lay down, even though it was totally empty and he didn't need to lay right on the edge.

          Yes exactly! He sounds great. Mine will figure out how to open locked doors, knows everything about the roads around our house and can predict where we're going to go, all sorts, then he can't properly scratch himself and ends up punching himself in the face repeatedly.

          Hey, yeah the one in the back is my puppy she’s a Chesapeake Labrador x American Staffordshire terrier, and the front puppy is a friend of mines, he’s an American Staffordshire terrier x but I’m not sure what he’s crossed with I would have to ask!!

          I have a Boxer Shepard mix and he looks very similar to that dog. My guess would also be that it is a Boxer mix! If the dog has a lottt of energy that could be a sign that it's a boxer mix.

          My dog used to just let food hit him in the face like that but I wanted him to catch it. If you also want your dog to catch and he won't, what I did to teach mine is toss food at him and when it inevitably hit the ground I'd rush to pick it up so he couldn't get it. After a while of this he got so frustrated he started trying to catch it and now it's second nature to him lol

          I had an Akita growing up that was like this. You could throw her cheese, meat, anything dogs normally scarf up immediately and would just let it hit her. She would eat it, but only after sniffing, gently picking it up and slowly eating it on some comfortable place she could wander to sit and eat at her own pace.

          Pitbull I live with is 3 years old and does this with food she isn't familiar with. She just let's it hit her face. Dogs are so trusting, they aren't expecting some things and this is the result, and it's amazing.
