About us
The European Cancer Organisation aims to reduce the burden of cancer, improving outcomes and the quality of care for cancer patients through multidisciplinarity and multiprofessionalism. As the not-for-profit federation of member organisations working in cancer at a European level, we convene oncology professionals and patients to agree policy, advocate for positive change and speak up for the European cancer community. Every year, we organise the European Cancer Summit.

The European Cancer Pulse country report on Ireland launched this week at the #EuroAmericanCancerForum2024 in Dublin. It shows that our #screening rates for breast, cervical and bowel cancer are well above the OECD average. The EU goal is that 90% of eligible populations will be offered screening by 2025. Our latest programme reports give more details on screening invitations, coverage and uptake rates and screening outcomes. View the reports: #BreastCheck: https://lnkd.in/eT83Crs3 #CervicalCheck: https://lnkd.in/eTUDprQA #BowelScreen: https://lnkd.in/eipbyUW6 The 73% #cervicalscreening coverage rate exceeds the World Health Organization target of 70% set to achieve #CervicalCancerElimination. Ireland is on track to eliminate #cervicalcancer by 2040. One simple vaccine can prevent 6+ different cancers caused by the human papilloma virus #HPV. Too many countries are not doing enough to protect their citizens. Effective advocacy can change that. Our new guide shows what has already been achieved by advocacy and how civil society organisations can make a difference. We need to urge EU Member States to make the vaccine more accessible to all boys and girls, especially those 9 to 14 years old, when the vaccine is most effective. Together, we can do better!
