Arla farmers are rewarded for climate activities on the farm 🤝 In short 👉 The more the farmers do on their farms to reduce CO2e emissions and improve protection of nature and biodiversity, the more they get paid for their milk. On Thomas' farm, he works on utilising his land as efficiently as possible with the lowest possible climate footprint 👨🌾 If you are curious to read more about Arla's Sustainability Incentive Model, you can do so here 👉 https://lnkd.in/dDV39adh

A work of art that prevents accidents 🎨😉 Our talented colleague, May-Britt E Christensen, saw a colourful potential in some slightly dull white walls and pillars at our AKAFA site in Denmark. So, she grabbed some brushes and a bit of paint to shine them up 👏🐝🌱 As an added bonus, the paintings aren't only pretty to look at, they’re actually preventing accidents. Because the walls and pillars are more noticeable - and maybe also out of respect for May-Britt’s artwork 😉 - our colleagues at the site don’t scrape or hit the walls and pillars with trucks and fork lifts, which sometimes happened previously. Heard that before? Well, we did show this to you almost a year ago and since then, May-Britt has made even more beautiful art at the site. Check it out 👇

Can you hear that? The handrail is… speaking…? 👀 🔊 “Thank you for holding the handrail” 🤖 This is an example of how we nudge our colleagues to be aware of safety at Aylesbury dairy in the UK. Our colleagues get a friendly reminder from a voice saying “Thank you for holding the handrail” every time someone walks down the stairs 😉👌 #WorldDayforSafetyandHealthatWork

Meet Klaus 👋 He’s working on improving biodiversity and soil health on his farm 👨🌾🌱 Just like all other Arla farmers, Klaus is rewarded for the climate activities he works on at the farm. So 👉 The more he does on his farm to reduce CO2e emissions and improve protection of nature and biodiversity, the more he gets paid for his milk. Flowers, trees, bee-hotels, and hedgerows are some of the initiatives Klaus has implemented on his farm to improve biodiversity 🍀🌾🐝 You can read more about our Sustainability Incentive Model in the link below 👇 https://lnkd.in/dDV39adh

Anders uses satellites, drones and GPS to fertilise his crops 🛰👌 Anders is one of the Arla farmers who works every day to reduce his farm's CO2 emissions and take better care of nature. Using satellites, drones, and GPS, he optimizes his way of fertilising the soil. Instead of using the traditional manure spreader to fertilise the soil evenly, computer calculations help him to only apply manure to the areas that need extra nutrients. This way, he avoids both over-fertilisation and under-fertilisation - and it also reduces the smell 💩😄 Arla's farmers are rewarded for climate initiatives on their farms 👨🌾 This means that the milk price paid by Arla to the farmers is determined, among other things, by the number of measures taken to reduce CO2e emissions and protect nature and biodiversity 🕵️♀️ You can read more about Arla's sustainability bonus model here 👉 https://lnkd.in/dDV39adh

Turning waste into valuable resources with larvae 🐛 Arla Foods Ingredients (AFI), our subsidiary, has teamed up with ENORM, the largest insect farm in northern Europe to reduce food waste and turn it into valuable resources. Here’s how it works 👇 Previously, a by-product from the whey protein production called delactosed permeate (DLP) from AFI's Denmark Protein site was classified as food waste. But now, by supplying 15 truckloads a week of it to the insect farm, we are turning it into nutritious feed material for Black Soldier Fly larvae together with other industrial bystreams 🥦🐛 Just 25 kilos of microscopic larvae eggs mixed with the DLP from Denmark Protein and other types of food production waste can yield a whopping 100 tonnes of larvae. That's a growth factor of 4,000! 🌱📈 The larvae can then be used to produce insect protein and fat for livestock, pets and fish – and complete the circle ♻ This collaboration allows us to reduce the food waste from Denmark Protein by an estimated 16% and make good use of what was previously seen as waste 👌 #Sustainability #FoodWasteReduction #Innovation #Partnership
