Oregon elementary school teacher drove to Wash. to meet two 'teens' for sex, police say

REDMOND, Wash. – An Oregon elementary teacher is In jail for allegedly trying to meet two teens for sex in Washington state.

Police say two detectives went undercover, one posing as a 14-year-old girl, the other as a 13-year-old.

The two met Andrew Hammond, 50, online. Hammond is a fourth-grade teacher in McMinnville, Oregon.

Redmond detectives say they used these decoy profiles to speak with Hammond, telling him multiple times they were underage. However, this did not stop Hammond, who allegedly still had sexually motivated conversations with them.

Police say it took months before Hammond proposed meeting the minors at a Redmond, Washington hotel on March 25, which is when officers arrested him.

Detectives searched Hammond’s vehicle and found condoms, lubricant, handcuffs, and duct tape. The Oregon teacher is now in the King County jail on a $100,000 bail.

He’s facing multiple charges, including four counts of communicating with a child for immoral purposes, attempted child rape in the second degree, and attempted child rape in the third degree.
