THE world record is held by a 12-year-old, but eight-year-old Jaygo Beasty is already looking to become the youngest person to perform a back flip on a motorbike, writes James Jeavons.

Beasty’s dedicated parents are in the process of building him a giant pit filled with cubes of foam that he can practice jumping into.

However, the steep hill they face is that a specialist pit costs between £30,000 and £40,000. They are hoping to have the pit ready for next year.

While Beasty practices the dynamics of his record attempt by jumping into a smaller 20ft by 16ft pit on his BMX bike, his parents travel to furniture upholsterers to collect up old foam cushions, so they can cut them into six-inch cubes and fill the pit they hope to build.

“His dream is to gain this record and in the future become a professional motorcyclist,” said his dad, Dominic.

Beasty senior said that he and his wife, Tracey, do not see money as a problem in a relatively expensive sport.

He said: “Pretty much all of our money goes into it, but he loves it and he’s good at it so we support him as much as we can.”

Breaking this record would help kick-start the young motorcyclist’s fledgling career and would be seen as another stepping stone along the path to fulfilling his dream of becoming a professional motorcyclist.

“He had his first bike at the age of three and he just fell in love with it,” said his dad.

The Market Weighton starlet represents a number of clubs in the North of England, including MX90 Racing, and is no stranger to the podium.

His father said: “His next race will be this weekend at Caistor in Lincolnshire and we’re expecting him to do well.”.

While Jaygo, pictured above and right, spends much of his time competing in national races throughout the year, he also makes time for other hobbies such as free running, trampolining and kung fu.

“It is great that he is so active doing all these different things, but motorbiking is his main love,” his dad said.
