Matcha Bubble Tea (Vegan Boba Recipe) 抹茶珍珠奶茶 | Japanese Cooking Video Recipe

Soy milk base Matcha green tea latte, with a hint of brown sugar from Okinawa! So delicious just like Wagashi (Japanese sweets) 😋 Must try!!!

This Tapioca Express was very easy yet delicious with nice chewy texture 💖

カルディでは500円くらいでもっと安かったです。

I cooked this Tapioca from cold water then failed (pearls melt and water became slimy)... make sure you cook in boiling water!

---------------------------------

Matcha Bubble Tea (Vegan Boba Recipe)

Difficulty: VERY Easy
Time: 60min
Number of servings: 4 servings

Tapioca is perfect for Ice cream topping as well.
You can save Tapioca in the freezer, defrost at room temperature to use.

Ingredients:
1 box Tapioca Express (おうちでタピオカ)
2 tbsp. Matcha green tea powder
100g brown sugar
100ml hot water
600ml soy milk

Directions:
1. Melt brown sugar in hot water. Add Matcha powder and mix well with a whisk (or Chasen if you have). Strain through a sieve and cool in the fridge. You can keep the Matcha syrup in the fridge for about a week
2. Meanwhile, put Tapioca in boiling water and simmer for 20 minutes. Stir immediately to avoid them sticking to the bottom of the pot.
3. Stop the heat, cover, and steam for 20 minutes. Pour tapioca into a sieve and rinse with cold running water.
4. Put some Tapioca (and ice cubes if you like) in a glass, pour 1 tbsp. of Matcha syrup and 150ml of cold soy milk. Mix well to drink.

If you want to keep the bubbles in the fridge for a day, you can coat some Matcha syrup so that they won't stick together. In this way bubbles become sweet and delicious with Matcha brown sugar flavor! Make sure you eat on the day you make, otherwise bubbles become hard. You can microwave to make them soft but they drastically lose flavor...

Ikanago no Kugini 2018

NOW IN SEASON💕

Recipe is HERE:
https://createeathappy.blogspot.jp/2014/03/how-to-make-ikanago-no-kugini-sand-eel.html

"Ikanago no Kugini" (いかなごのくぎ煮) is my favorite Tsukudani (food boiled down in soy sauce) made with Ikanago (sand eel/sand lance).

Ikanago no Kugini is a famous Tsukudani in Hyogo prefecture. My grandma, who lives there cooks a few kilograms of Ikanago no Kugini every year for us in Tokyo.

It is usually cooked and eaten around the end of February or early March, when the fish is about an inch long. After its season, Ikanago goes deep in the sea where is cooler. Then it goes under the sand and aestivate.

This year she sent us in the beginning of March 👍

My son (1 year 3 months) liked it eating with rice 😋

Souvenirs from Hakone

Onsen Manjyu (温泉まんじゅう) is a very popular souvenir from Hakone. It is a soft steamed bun filled with Azuki bean paste. Brown ones are the basic. They were complimentary at the hotel we stayed ;)

Nanohana (菜の花) is very popular for their Onsen Manjyu. Brown ones (Hakone no Otsukisama 箱根のお月さま) expires in 4 days. They also have black ones Gokurosan (ご黒うさん) colored with bamboo charcoal and black sesame seeds. Black ones can be enjoyed for 20 days but before you open the package.

Amanatu Orange Jelly (甘夏ゼリー) is something I found refreshing and nice! It is only sold during summer season.

Kuro Choco (黒チョコ) is black-colored white chocolate with almond which looks like the black egg in Owakudani (大涌谷), where you can find black eggs (a local specialty of eggs hard-boiled in the hot springs). Eating one egg is said to add seven years to your life!!! hehe

We (actually I) enjoyed shopping at Gotemba Premium Outlets, too ;)

LA MAISON DU CHOCOLAT - Les Macarons à la Ganache

On White Day (3/14: men give gifts to women in return for the chocolate they were given on Valentine's Day) my darling gave me French luxury chocolate macarons created by La Maison de Chocolat. They are made of fresh and natural ingredients.

From left to right: QUITO plain dark chocolate ganache, PISTACHIO pistachio flavored ganache, SALVADOR chocolate ganache flavored with raspberry, FIGARO dark chocolate ganache with hazelnuts, MARACUJA chocolate ganache with passion fruit, and RIGOLETTO caramel flavored ganache.

We cut them in half and enjoyed them together with some coffee =D
Great variety of chocolate macarons!!! Yummy X)

Thank you my darling♥

La Boutique Du Chocolat 2014: Japanese Chocolate Gift Ideas

On Saturday, my darling and I've been to "La Boutique Du Chocolat" at Printemps in Ginza. It is an event for Valentine's day, selling collections of amazing chocolates with FREE tastings :D

The event was titled "Chocolat qui se merit (Chocolate you deserve)". Nowadays, many girls are getting chocolates for themselves, obviously. hehe

Well, my darling and I don't have a sweet tooth, so we tasted them all but I just bought skeleton patterned chocolates (from Compartes Chocolatier) for my dad. So cute XD

Do you get chocolates for yourself on Valentine's day?!

Souvenirs from Kinugawa Onsen

On the weekend, my family and I went to Kinugawa Onsen to celebrate my dad's 60th birthday!!!

Kinugawa Onsen (鬼怒川温泉) is a popular hot spring resort in the city of Nikkō, Tochigi, Japan. It is located 2 hours by train from Tokyo. BTW, Bento on the train is nice! We always get it at a department store. Not Ekiben! hehe

Not many but there are some amusements such as Tobu World Square (東武ワールドスクエア) and Nikko Edomura (日光江戸村) theme parks.

Here are some souvenirs from the places we went!!!

Tobu World Square (東武ワールドスクエア):
A theme park with more than 100 famous sites from around the world, in 1/25th of the original sizes. You can also enjoy nighttime illumination from 12/1-3/2. It is freezing cold though. haha

Tom and Maimu Colorful Print Cookies (カラフルプリントクッキー)

Kinugawa Confectionery Castle (鬼怒川お菓子の城):
You can taste and buy all sorts of popular Wagashi (traditional Japanese confections) from Kinugawa. It is not a castle-like place, but they have great freshly made sweets!

Top 5
#1 ごま・胡麻クッキー (Sesame Seed Cookies)
#2 胡麻まんじゅう (Sesame Seed Manjyu)
#3 かりんとうまんじゅう (Deep-Fried Brown Sugar Manjyu)
#4 チーズケーキ (Cheesecake)
#5 塩羊羹 (Salty Yokan)

Nikko Hanaichi-Monme (日光花いちもんめ):
Begonias and more than 600 varieties of flowers are full in bloom all year round. You can also enjoy strawberry picking! I found a Hello Kitty strawberry XD

Strawberry Curry (いちごのカレー) *you can find at any souvenir shop

Tasty Salt for Boiled Egg (ゆでたまごの塩) *you can find at any souvenir shop
マヨネーズ (mayonnaise), 醤油 (soy sauce), 抹茶 (Matcha green tea), ゆず (Yuzu Japanese lemon) and さくら (Sakura cherry blossom).
It goes great with Tempura, fries, salad, meat, fish, rice, pasta, sweets, etc...

Tochigi is known for strawberries. Most souvenirs are in PINK :)
