I first tried this dispenser on pancakes. It took a little practice to get the thickness I wanted...my batter may have been a little thin...but the dispenser worked well. Then I used it to fill muffin cups. This is the application I wanted it for. I used to make a mess filling muffin cups. I had drips all over the place. This dispenser works like magic. The only drip I had was a single, small drip in the SS holding base. I make these muffins a lot. The recipe calls them "doughnut muffins", but I think of them as "Cop Cakes". Yes, There are strong ties to law enforcement in my family.

On the down side: The word "Jumbo" only applies if you think One Liter (four cups) is "jumbo"...BUT, If you use a mixing bowl with a handle and pouring spout ($1.00 at the dollar store) this is not a problem.

This product is easy to clean and does a great job. I am buying another one as a gift.

I cook 200 - 250 pancakes every couple weeks during swim season. This is so much better than pouring from a pitcher or using a measuring cup. It is much easier to get consistent size and shape. You control the flow, this is not a hit the button and get the same quantity of batter each time. But it does make it easier to produce great looking pancakes consistently.

Tip:
Rinse soon after use. It is difficult to clean if you let the batter dry. Rinse it out while the batter is still fresh.

Paid about $23 instead of about $36. It was a nice discount but it didn't come with instructions. The projecting pieces inside the bowl were a little bent and I had to use large pliers to get the bow ends into the slots. Perhaps that was a good trade-off for the discount.

I haven't tried putting batter in it and using it. That is the next step. It looks like it will work well.

The Norpro Stainless Steel Jumbo Pancake Dispenser is not for the family that makes a dozen pancakes at one time. When we make pancakes at my house we make about 100 at a time and freeze some of the leftovers for easy breakfasts. The spring loaded top comes apart from the main bowl and the "resting/spillage" dish is great to prevent messes! I also use mine at some non-profit events I host to cook pancakes for hundreds of people. Wonderful product! Easy Cleanup!

It’s great that it’s stainless steel and has its own holder to set in on the counter. It works, but not smoothly. The thumb lifting mechanism grinds as you push down to lift the plunger that releases the batter. It also doesn’t lift the plunger perfectly vertical, so when released, it doesn’t close completely. Depending on how runny the batter is, it could continue to drip. One way I found to prevent this is to release the lever quickly to try to get the plunger to “slam” down. Not sure I’ve seen the best dispenser yet, so we’re living with it.

This works remarkably well. I have never ever gotten round pancakes. Mine tend to be more of a Rorschach test. With this they are perfect! With a little practice I can go from silver dollar to giant size with no problem. It also fairly quick to use, so when cooking in volume (likes for my office's festivus breakfast) it work great. The Bly knock is it sized for a family, not a big group so for larg outings there is some refills.
