Dressmaker Shears offer a longer cut ideal for cutting patterns, trimming seams or cutting long swaths of fabric, and a gold-plated handle adds an unmistakable touch of sophistication. Like a professional-quality knife in the kitchen, a pair of real shears makes cutting fabrics a real joy. These shears don't balk at even the heaviest of fabrics, including 16oz canvases, coated wools, and even multiple layers of denim. They took a couple weeks to break in and a slight adjustment of the joint, but now they're an indispensable part of my workflow.Also, they're gold.

These scissors are incredible. I sew as a hobby and have been cutting my fabric with a scissor that came in a Singer kit until I purchased these as a splurge, and they make such a difference. The edges of my fabric are now clean, this cuts through even the thickets fabrics like butter and the best part, for me, is that they have a nice heft to it so I can use their own weight in my favor when I am cutting but they are not so heavy that I can't lift them (and I have very weak arms and tendonitis in my hand). I love how they look and they stay sharp. I've had them for 2 years and haven't had to sharpen them yet. My pair is made in Italy, and came in a cute plastic gift box. At one point I had an issue with something stuck in them that was impeding operation, and their customer service (Fiskars, the company that owns Gingher) were great and offered to replace them. Luckily, I solved it on my own, but in the process I learned they offer lifetime warranty.
I would buy these again, and actually I have: I bought a pair for the person who taught me how to sew and it made a terrific gift. I can't say enough good things about these scissors. They cut through fabric, leather, batting and every other sewing material I have encountered so far.

The only down side is the price. $25 for scissors is insane! You can get a normal pair that work just as well for $5 but then again I doubt they would cut like these. Fiskars are great scissors but don't be fooled, GINGHER (a fiskars company) was created for a reason, that reason is to surpass the quality of regular Fiskars brand scissors in blade quality, design and manufacturing quality.

Only CON..... I'm a fairly large male. 6"4 247lbs retired bodybuilder. I don't necessarily have the thinnest or smallest hands lol. I normally like to cut with three fingers on the downside of the shear with my thumb up top. I have to use two fingers on downside with thumb up top to cut. However, this form is growing on me and I may prefer the 2-1 finger formation better than the 3-1 formation lol ;-)
