The is an excellent alternative to cornstarch. I use it to thicken sauces and in gluten-free baking, as I have a family member that is g-free. I do still use a non-GMO cornstarch on occasion, because it works better with dairy and high heats, but for most stuff I use this. An added bonus is that it naturally sooths the digestive system, unlike cornstarch which can cause problems for some people. I am not saying don't use cornstarch, because it still has its uses, but rather this is a good and healthy alternative. Bob's Red Mill Arrowroot is excellent quality. I highly recommend their Arrowroot and the brand in general. I own a lot of their flours, beans, seeds, grains, and other cooking products. They never disappoint.

I have used arrowroot to thicken liquids when I was taking care of my mom who passed away recently. She had Alzheimer's for 18 years (last 7 years completely bed bound and unable to eat solid foods). I did not want to use Thick It because she had a hard time with it because she was sensitive to corn starch but the arrowroot worked great. It also helped her when she had diarrhea (sorry to be so graphic). I found Bob's Red Mill to have the best arrowroot around. Thank you for helping me take care of my mom and make her life a little better,

I always order this item through Amazon prime. For this price I receive a box of FOUR bags. It was definitely my mistake to not read that this is for ONE bag, but seriously I never even gave it a second thought at this price. Whatever you do, don't pay over twenty dollars for a bag of arrowroot flour it should be closer to four or five!

I use this in place of cornstarch to make deodorant. However, I saw this at a local Sprouts market for only $4 for the same size!! I won't buy this again.

Can't miss with Bob's Red Mill. This 'Arrow Starch' is superior as a thickener.
It is not made from a grain--corn, so it is non gluten.
This bag usually lasts, for me, close to a year! Just store it in an air tight container.
If you have room in your refrig or if you live in a colder climate, you can store it in your pantry
or root cellar. I live in Florida so in the refrig it goes.
Try it. It works great to thicken anything and leaves no real flavor of it's own!

I have just started to use this so there is not to much to say right now. I am in the process of going grain free and doing a lot of new recipes so I am in the experimation process. So far I have no complaints and it works as a nice compliment to the other flours I am starting to use.

Can't remember where I first read to try arrowroot as body powder, but I have been using it for years. I don't like scented body care because it makes me sneeze so arrowroot is not only soft, but has the extra benefit for me as not having extra chemicals added for fragrance. Bob's has a nice consistency and works really well for my purpose. Have never tried for anything else.
