I purchased the large size in order to use as a holder for an egg in boiling water. The egg fit, the egg did not bounce around on the bottom of the pot. It was pretty good. I had a small problem opening it but overall very happy it worked as I had hoped. The pictures are one just after submerging the egg and one at rolling boiling.

This are great quality for the price! The holes and mesh are perfect size and my tea leaves do not fall out all, which can be a problem with other products! I like the length and super easy to clean. I will say that when I first opened the package, that one of the chains had broken before I took it out of the plastic wrapping, but super easy to fix and didn’t even need tools to do it!

This is durable and the perfect size for all-day use of a single load of tea. I use cheap Republic of China gunpowder tea available here, fill half the ball, and drop it in my commuter cup with 14oz of hot water from our empty Keurig. I probably refill it three times with hot or room temperature water, bounce it around with me, and by the time I clean it in the evening the tea has expanded and is hard packed. Despite my mishandling, THIS ball never opens, and never releases loose tea through the day.

Wash it (maybe soak it well) to stop the stainless steel taste, but that problem - which is to be expected - goes away quickly. This takes me no more time than teabags, which require unwrapping, de-tagging, and are more difficult to extract from the empty commuter cup.

Are these better than anyone else's? Of course not. Pretty much any tea ball is the same. But they have no flaws- the clasps work great, there are no loose wires poking out, they are not some weird metal that rusts and tastes bad. Perfectly good, normal tea balls.
I gotta say, in reaction to the shockingly highly-rated review from some idiot who apparently doesn't have tea on their home planet... no it is NOT a design flaw that you can only fill a chain-style ball halfway (as opposed, I guess, to the ones on stiff handles, that open like scissors, so you could grab a full scoop out of the tea tin). YOU ARE ONLY EVER SUPPOSED TO FILL A TEA BALL HALFWAY, well, actually less than halfway. You need to leave room for the water to swirl through the tea so it can infuse properly. If it's jammed in there tightly, you won't get all the flavor out of the tea leaves. And keep in mind tea expands a lot once it is fully wet. You want to fill a teaball maybe 1/3 full in my opinion. Half full is the absolute maximum.
This little 2" one I bought is only good for a single cup of tea if you like it strong, maybe half a pot of weak tea. If you want to do a full strength full sized pot or large thermos, you need to get a couple of them in there or pick the larger ball, maybe even put a couple of the larger balls in. Whatever you do, don't cram too much tea in each ball or you'll be throwing out your tea leaves with most of the flavor still in them not in your water!
Personally I prefer to use a french press, seems to infuse more thoroughly plus I like to look at the leaves unfurling. But a glass carafe is bulky and fragile. If you are travelling or making tea at work then you need a tea ball, and these are a perfect choice.
