I recently purchased the Raniaco Stainless Steel Zester, primarily for zesting fruit for baking. The Raniaco Zester has a very nice, long design, but not unwieldy. It is light weight and the zesting area itself is long and very sharp. Fortunately it comes with a heavy plastic cover protector so once you've washed it and put it in the drawer, you are not going to injure yourself when you go looking for it the next time. It's a fine grade zester, and does a good job avoiding the pith of every fruit I have used it on so far. I am assuming it is dishwasher safe, but I have only ever hand washed it and I have had no problems with discoloration, etc.

Over-all I am very happy with this Zester and expect it to last me quite some time. I would recommend it to others.

This is my second zester grater so the design isn't new. What I especially like is this one comes with a cover. It's excellent quality at a reasonable price. As well as grating citrus fruit, I really like to use it for hard cheese like Parmesan or Asiago. Once you use freshly grated hard cheese you'll never go back to the packaged. Much more flavor, better consistency and looks nicer. The same can be said about grating citrus fruit.

It's so easy to use. You can grate a lemon/lime/orange or hard cheese in a couple of minutes. It grates other food too so experiment! FRESH IS BEST!

This is a must-have tool for your kitchen and makes a great gift!

I got this because I wanted to have an alternative grater for when my other one is dirty. Well, the other one had dulled over time and the metal part had bent before it finally broke off the handle after only about 2 years. Thankfully, his one hasn't given me any issues like that. I've been using this grater for over a year, and it's still really sharp! You really do need to be careful with your fingers when you use it. I like how there's not much plastic, as I like to grate garlic directly into what I'm cooking while resting the grater on the pot, but I couldn't do that with my old one or the plastic would melt. Only thing about this one that I haven't really seen with other ones is that whatever you're grating doesn't really turn into a fine paste, but it rather gets shredded very finely, which I don't really mind as it doesn't really make that much of a difference. As far as cleaning goes, graters are never that easy to clean, but as long as you don't let garlic harden on it, and you clean in the direction of the blades and in the reverse on the other side, you shouldn't have a problem.

This is a very durable zester. Strong metal component and sharp. I have only used it three times to grate garlic very fine and it works spectacularly. My only complaint is that the metal edging on the other side is long, about 4 mm, making getting the rest of the garlic on the other side difficult. I am not sure why the overhand is there or why it is so long. I thought is was to hold the plastic protective cover when not in use, but the cover is much more shallow. Maybe it is to make it more durable...the unit is tough as heck. I am sure they have their reasoning and maybe I will understand why when I grate or zest other items other than garlic, however it is no doubt my go to piece for garlic it works amazing. Strength and sharpness I give this piece 5 stars. I gave 4 stars only because of the over hang, therwise it is really a great and strong piece.

I took this zester out of the packaging and the first thing that stood out to me was length and over all look. It was much nicer than I was expecting. The handle has a really nice feel to it. Very comfortable to hold. It feels very well put together. The next thing was I took off the very well fitted blade cover. It is not flimsy at all and it snaps on and fits snug. You are not going to loose this cover in the drawer, whichis good because this blade is SHARP. I will have to see how it holds up to use and washings, but for now I am pleasantly surprised of with what I see so far, and especially for the great price!

I started doing a couple of those at-home-meal-delivery services, where they send you a bunch of ingredients and recipes, and you cook. It's forced me to cook in ways I've never cooked before. One thing I quickly realized is that these people LOVE their lemon zest. Fine by me, because I love citrus. Anyway, my stand-up grater wasn't doing the job. This little guy is great but you (a) need to be careful and (b) be sure to pick out the zest that gets under the grooves on the underside. Waste not, want not. And immediately run under water, to avoid sticking. (The handle on the one I purchased was red, but it doesn't look like you can pick a color.) Dishwasher safe, no rusting or anything like that yet.
