I tried to get around that problem by cutting them after the wax had hardened but it would still fall apart. I improvised and made the shorter candles with only one piece rather than two.

Don’t buy these!! Even coating them in wax multiple times, they burn so strongly that they are a fire hazard. The flame on these was about 4 inches high. Your candles will be all burnt up in a couple hours and your entire house will be in a cloud of smoke from the amount of smoke they put off. Spend a little extra money and buy wood-wicks from an actual candle supply distributor, these are absolutely awful. I can’t even give away the test candles I made because I don’t want my friends to burn their houses down with these.
