DWC proposes rule on medical billing complaints
DWC is accepting public comments on a proposed rule amending 28 TAC Section 180.2 to ensure that no health care provider or agent can use DWC's complaint process to bypass the medical fee dispute resolution filing deadline in 28 TAC Section 133.307(c). The restriction does not apply to a health care provider submitting a complaint under Insurance Code Chapter 1305.
DWC adopts designated doctor billing and reimbursement rules
DWC has adopted new and amended rules in 28 TAC Chapters 133 and 134 to improve billing and reimbursement for certain workers' compensation-specific services, including designated doctor examinations, required medical examinations, work status reports and MMI/IR examinations by treating and referred doctors. The rules will be effective on June 1, 2024.

DWC has published the 2024 Insurance Carrier Performance Based Oversight Assessment Plan. DWC regularly evaluates insurance carriers and health care providers for compliance with Texas Labor Code §402.075 and 28 Texas Administrative Code §180.19.
