IDB Among Leaders in 2022 Aid Transparency Index

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) ranks third among 50 development and aid-disbursing organizations assessed in the 2022 Aid Transparency Index, up two notches since 2020.

The Bank’s score of 96.3/100 reflects its high marks in all five areas of evaluation of its sovereign-lending portfolio: finance and budgets, joining-up development data, project attributes, performance, and organizational planning and commitments.

The IDB's implementation of its Access to Information Policy underpins this ranking.

The Index, produced by Publish What You Fund (PWYF), is the only independent aid transparency ranking of the world’s major donors.

"At the IDB, we practice what we preach – and we are doing so better than we ever have," said IDB President Mauricio Claver-Carone. "Improving transparency is vital to the recovery and sustainable, inclusive growth of our region, and our work to fight corruption and improve accountability is built into every project we approve. Holding ourselves to the highest standards not only demonstrates what we hope to achieve in our borrowing member countries, but also allows us to do our job with the utmost trust of our stakeholders and partners – for greater impact on real lives."

Promoting transparency is a key priority of the IDB’s institutional strategy and undergirds Vision 2025, the Bank's roadmap for spurring recovery and lasting, holistic development in its 26 borrowing member countries.

The IDB has consistently improved its performance in the Index, climbing from eleventh place in 2013 and remaining in the highest category, "very good," since 2016.
