Stays on very well, feels safe to use, requires some work to install
Just got these and installed them on my '24 S1000RR. Took about 20-30mins, watching some youtube videos and a lot of elbow grease (strong hand pushing and shoving).Seeing how difficult it was to get it onto the stock grips I feel confident they are not going anywhere.I feel like if I leave the bike outside the material the grips are made of would eventually start breaking down and coming off. I'll update this in a few years once/if it goes bad. I did have the same material on some hand exercise grips and it took years to fall apart so it may be a while. Now for the installation:- I first tried dry install, then added a long screwdriver inside of it to try and push it onto the stock grips. Didnt work.- I then read the packaging (yeah, I know) and tried to soapy water. I put too little soap and didnt apply enough of it. Didnt work.- I then watch a youtube video where a guy uses a ziplock to get it onto it. Seemed to work ok but plastic ripped so I gave up.- I then watched another video where someone got it installed relatively easy with soap and water and some elbow grease. I then added more soap to the water and splashed a lot of it all over the stock grips and inside the puppy grips. It took a bit of pushing and shoving but probably got both in under 5 mins.I give it 5 stars overall even though install is not the easiest, because I like that it would be difficult to remove, makes it a safe product to use!Note on pic: I should probably trim the grip a bit but its not catching on the bar end

I’ve had 5 sets of foam grips over the years on Japanese and European bikes over the years, mostly because I prefer a larger diameter grip, more like a cruiser. Additional benefits are less buzz and more cushion.

The first 3 sets were various cheaper brands. They didn’t last, and half of them would tear when putting them on. The last two times I went with Grip Puppy’s brand, and they are a world of difference. Softer, they don’t rip, they don’t fade or crumble in the sun, and my heated grips work perfectly through them. They seem to be a totally different material than the cheap foam brands. I buy them every time now.

So these are exactly as described. But, I decided I don't like them for various reasons - and cut them off with my pocket knife shortly into my test ride.

They are high-quality and installed VERY easily. Not like "Fat Paw" grips I got for my bicycle which were a mighty effort (but unlike these, I like them and they are still on).

Now, to what I didn't like so much:

- Way too long. I haven't owned/ridden many bikes but I'm curious which ones have grips this long. I had to cut with scissors - not a HUGE deal but would be nice if these came in different lengths.

- The Big One - just TOO thick. The grips end up way bigger in diameter hence circumference than expected. The Fat Paws work on the bicycle because that's such a smaller tube. These similar-thickness (maybe more!) grips OVER the motorcycle grips are just too much, for me. Be advised if you try these it is a VERY SIGNIFICANT delta. If they were say 1/3 the thickness (POSSIBLY 1/2) we probably would not be having this chat - I would prefer a bit more diameter but not this much, and not at this cost (see next point).

- The Secondary Issue - probably because of the thickness but also maybe could be better material, there is a HUGE reduction in feel. It's just numb. (A side benefit - my bike is an FZ6 - is total engine vibration elimination - but again how to get rid of that buzz without such a cost? And said cost is just a total loss of feel for the little things the front end is doing, or even the parts of the engine buzz that are appealing in that they remind you're on a MOTORcycle not a ridiculous E-thing.)

So - I think it's a great product, just make sure you understand what you're getting.

As a disclaimer, I have installed and used Grip Puppies on another motorcycle I own. However, I bought these for a new motorcycle I just bought since I tend to stay with what I know works well.
I like Grip Puppies for a few reasons:
- They really are comfortable. I have found high frequency vibrations are not felt in my hands when I have Grip Puppies on my grips.
- They are very easy to install. I honestly have not experienced any difficulties installing these on two motorcycles. I have had to trim these to fit, especially on the new bike, but they slipped on easily using the suggestion of applying a couple drops of dish soap inside the Grip Puppies and on the handlebar grips. I didn't try to tug and jerk them into position or pull them on quickly. Instead, I let the soap reduce the friction points, which took a few seconds at times. Seriously, only use a couple drops of dish soap spread inside the Grip Puppies and on the handlebar grips; a little bit goes a long way. Too much soap is going to just make a mess that is harder to clean when finished with the job (an oxymoron, I know).
- These don't absorb all the heat from heated hand grips leaving your hands cold. I have found that even on the low setting, plenty of heat makes it through the Grip Puppies to my hands. This is really appreciated when riding 80 MPH in 35 degrees F on my way to work.
- These help extend the life of heated grips. I found that I was replacing heated grips about every 20,000 to 30,000 miles on three different bikes. This can get expensive quickly. Having Grip Puppies installed over the heated grips is an inexpensive way to increase the time between heated grip replacement.
- When these wear out, and they do wear out, it's a simple matter to remove them and put new ones on the grips.
If you don't find these don't give you the same benefits, simply remove the Grip Puppies. As a bonus, you're only out a little money as opposed to the large amount of money you would spend installing factory grip replacements.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crazy hard to install, but well worth it
Reviewed in Canada on March 26, 2024

This is, for the price, the absolute best upgrade you can put on your motorcycle. It makes the grip softer and more comfortable, which is great for longer rides. My only gripe are that these things are devilishly difficult to install. I've done it on two motorcycles now, and both times it's been a carnival of swear words and frustration. What's funny is if you search on YouTube for "grip puppy installation", you'll find plenty of videos, each one of which showing a different and allegedly "easy" installation method, and none of them are simple and straightforward. The good news is, once they are in place and the swearing is over, they last a long time, stand up to rain and bad weather very well, and provide excellent ride comfort. Overall recommend, but make sure there are no small children around when you install them, because you will swear like a sailor.
