AKRON, Ohio — A former Summit County employee is accused of trashing her former supervisor's office with glitter and silly string two days after her last day at the office.
Samantha Lockhart, 24, of Akron, is charged with fifth-degree felony vandalism and breaking and entering and misdemeanor criminal damaging in Akron Municipal Court. Akron police arrested Lockhart on Thursday and her initial court appearance is set for Friday.
Lockhart worked as a clerk for the Summit County Fiscal Office of Kristen M. Scalise. She was hired Feb. 27, 2013 and her last day was Monday, Summit County attorney Michael Cassidy said.
Summit County officials said Lockhart issued her letter of resignation that said she would work through Jan. 22. She called off work on Tuesday, making Monday her last day working in the office.
Lockhart and a man walked into the Summit County building at 175 S. High St. about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday carrying toilet paper and a bag. Lockhart used her swipe card to access the office.
Once inside, Lockhart went to her former supervisor's office, a 48-year-old woman, and trashed it, police reports say. She smashed several of the supervisor's personal photos, and ruined two desktop computers, a scanner, a printer, the carpet in the office and the supervisor's sweaters left at her desk.
She threw glitter and an unknown white powder across the office. She covered the area in purple silly string. Lockhart also broke into the supervisor's personal filing cabinet.
