Anatomy of a Blow Dart
Likewise, it is important to know the make up of your dart to understand the engineering of how it travels down the bore of the weapon. Not all darts are made the same and some people even choose to shoot alternative things out of their blow guns such as stunners or paint balls. Stunners are made of all plastic with a blunt tip that are designed to be safe for target practice.

Point or Tip — Most darts have a sharp pointed tip on the end in order to puncture and drive into the target. However, there are other types of ammo that some people use that don't have this point. Stunners have a blunt end and paint balls are rounded ammo that explodes on impact. Shaft — The shaft of the dart is typically made of thin metal and is where the dart gets it weight from. The shaft is a long cylinder shape that limits air resistance and stabilizes the dart in flight. Flight or Cone — The flight or cone on a blow dart is different than a traditional dart because it is used to plug the end of the bore when inserted into the weapon. By plugging the end of the bore, this creates an air tight seal that forces the air blown into the gun to fire the ammo. |
