What is the State (Document) fee?

This fee is for the actual record being ordered. It is mandated by the vital records office that holds & maintains the records in that state. The exact amount is determined by the state/local government. Typically there will be a primary fee for the 1st ordered copy, and a smaller additional amount charged for extra copies.

  • You may obtain current information about the specific document fees for an agency by visiting our listing tool, found here: Agency Listing. Once you are at an agency information page, you can select the 'Record Types Explained' tab for a list of products and their document fees. You may also see the amounts by just starting the ordering process with us.

What is the VitalChek Express Processing fee?

This fee is VitalChek's handling charge for providing the ability to order records online, by fax, or telephone from an agency. It also includes our services provided to ensure that your order meets the requirements of the vital records agency. This amount will vary from $5.00 up to $16.00. You can view the specific amount by starting the ordering process for the desired record. It will be summarized for you prior to the request for payment information to complete the order.

Please Note: For many locations, this fee is non-refundable. It covers the costs associated with any extra documentation required to complete requests, and is mentioned in the 'Terms of Service' agreement that must be confirmed before completing your order.

What is the State Expedite fee?

Some vital records offices will impose an extra fee upon those requesting a record by any means other than direct mail or fax. The exact amount is determined by the state/local government.

What is the Shipping cost?

This amount will vary by agency and by the method chosen. This cost is frequently subject to change. VitalChek recommends that you start the process of placing an order to obtain the specific fee amounts. You will have the opportunity to view the shipping costs and make your selection prior to entering payment.
