The U.S. presidential election in 2020 was distorted in ways that made it very difficult, if not impossible, for President Donald J. Trump to win re-election. Even without voter fraud — which, as of this writing, remains unproven — the conditions of the election violated the “free and fair” standard. This book makes the case, exploring vote-by-mail, political violence, tech censorship, media bias, debates, claims of voter fraud, and other problems.

This book addresses the broader question of whether conditions in America are conducive to our holding "free and fair" elections based on international standards. The author presents a compelling case that many factors contributed to an unfair playing field: from the novel vote by mail schemes adopted by many states that were either designed to permit fraud or at least make it harder to detect, to censorship, cancel culture, and pervasive media bias. Many of the actions performed by the "resistance" to Trump's presidency served not only to stymie his policy ambitions, but to weaken his chances of re-election. Under these conditions, the author asserts, our political elections cannot be considered free and fair. Regardless of your feelings for Mr. Trump, the topics raised should give pause to all patriotic citizens who are interested in the proper functioning of our republic.

Joel Pollak is one of the best reporters/editors out there. He is always factual. He is not a bomb thrower like many.

Joel B. Pollak’s new book, “Neither Free Nor Fair,” might end up falling in a slot that he didn’t expect, as this is a book that could be cast in an unfavorable light by both Democrats and Republicans. But first things first. “An election is only “free and fair” if it is free and fair throughout that process.” This is the premise of the book, and the author diligently works to examine what led up to the election of 2020 and how and why it happened.

For those who have not followed Donald Trump over the last five years (including his candidacy), there will be a lot to learn from reading this book. Others will find it to be a rehash of what we already know, from the Russia collusion and other hoaxes through the unabashed suppression of news during the 2020 election cycle.

Democrats will decry the reporting of the media and how most of the outlets slant the news as well as suppress the truth. Mr. Pollak supplies countless links to print and videos to support his facts, making the choice to release this book as an electronic copy extremely helpful. On the other hands, Republicans may not appreciate the exposure of why the election court cases have failed so far. The author’s suggestion to move on may not cause them to do so; rather, the reaction might be to discount the book and dig their heels in even deeper.

I was happy to see that the author did more than just report on what happened in the past. The final 10% of the book offered preventive solutions for future elections and an appendix provided succinct explanations of what has happened in each state up to the time of publication. For me, there was too much wading through a lot of what I knew to get to that section.

Bottom Line: Great book if you didn’t have your ear to the ground prior to November 3, 2020. Mr. Pollak will bring you up-to-date on previous issues, which is paramount to understanding his book. For those who constantly follow politics, most of this will be a reminder of what you know. Accepting the legality of the election (even though it constitutionally was not correct) might be a bitter pill to swallow, and hard to read about. Even though the author talks about moving on, he spent the majority of the book talking about the issues surrounding this election that were neither free nor fair. Four stars.

Clearly written synopsis of how the 2020 U.S. election process was compromised by media-bias and legal machinations even before Election Day. Changes are needed, as without free and fair elections, the republic itself is at risk.

2016 Iowa caucus. Cruz won, former President came in second. Former President claimed he won, voter fraud by the GOP who counted the votes. Former President lied. 2016 General election. Former President won the electoral college, lost the popular vote. Former President claimed he won the popular vote that there was voter fraud. Former President lied. The pattern is the former President loses, but will always claim voter fraud. Sadly, this mentality is starting to affect us on a local level, local elections being held and losers claiming voter fraud. This mentality cost peoples lives on January 6. Wake up, Christians.

Well done and quick read. Aggregating the topics allowed me to see the interrelationships that I would have otherwise missed in reading/watching the news in sequence. The next two months are going to be the culmination of a political thriller.
