🚧 A contractor with a history of failing to protect employees working in trenches from potentially deadly harm faces more than $1 million in penalties after Occupational Safety and Health Administration investigators found employees in Guam working in trenches deeper than 5 feet without required safety equipment. The company also failed to provide adequate means to exit trenches. Trench collapses are among the #construction industry’s most serious dangers. Excavations can collapse in seconds and lead to serious and often fatal injuries as workers are buried under cubic yards of soil, each weighing as much as 3,000 lbs. #TrenchSafety

Nearly 144 million workers are covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act, which provides overtime protections to most workers. But not all workers receive these protections, including those excluded by the exemption for bona fide executive, administrative, and professional employees. Our new rule will restore and extend overtime protections to millions of workers. https://lnkd.in/eYYqbgjm

Our final retirement security rule will protect millions of workers who are saving for retirement and rely on advice from trusted professionals on how to invest their savings 💰💰💰 The rule will update the definition of an investment advice fiduciary under federal pension laws. Now, trusted investment advice providers must give prudent, loyal, honest advice that is free from overcharges. “Retirement investors can now trust that their investment advice provider is working in their best interest and helping to make unbiased decisions,” said Acting Secretary Julie Su.
