It is with heavy hearts that we reflect on the remarkable life and legacy of Joe Tucci. As we commemorate his passing, we are reminded of the profound impact he made on the lives of countless children and young people. Through our longstanding partnership with the Australian Childhood Foundation, Joe's unwavering dedication to the safety and wellbeing of children became evident to us all at the Y. His passion was palpable, his commitment unyielding. Working alongside Joe, our staff teams across the country, witnessed firsthand the positive changes he brought about and the lives he touched. Joe's influence was not confined to boardrooms or executive offices; it was felt deeply in the hearts of those he worked with and the communities he served. His tireless advocacy and boundless compassion inspired us all to strive for excellence and to never waver in our commitment to protecting the most vulnerable among us. To Joe's family, friends, and colleagues, we extend our deepest condolences during this difficult time. We share in your grief and stand with you in honouring Joe's memory. And to Joe – thank you for everything you did to keep children and young people safe. Your legacy will continue to inspire us for years to come. Did you know about the National Indigenous Youth Parliament (NIYP)? 🤔 It was a partnership project between the Australian Electoral Commission and the Y, tailored specifically for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals aged 16 to 25. 🌏 The NIYP, an integral arm of the Y's Youth Parliament program, aimed to provide a platform for First Nations young people to delve into Australia's democracy, fostering a deeper understanding and engagement in electoral participation. 💬 From 2012 to 2017, this transformative initiative brought together passionate young leaders from diverse Indigenous backgrounds, complementing the state-based programs and amplifying the voices of First Nation Young People nationwide. 🗣️ At its core, the NIYP embodied empowerment, education, and inclusivity, empowering a new generation of Indigenous Australians to actively participate and shape the future of our democracy. 🌟 Though the NIYP may have concluded, its legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of those who participated and in the ongoing commitment to empowering Indigenous youth across Australia. 💪 Let's continue to champion diversity, inclusion, and democratic participation together! 🚀 #NIYP #YouthEmpowerment #IndigenousLeadership #Democracy
