Tom and Jean Yawkey would be heartened to know that their foundation's dedication to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute lives on today, more than 70 years after the couple first lent their support to Dr. Sidney Farber by designating The Jimmy Fund as the official charity of the Boston Red Sox. The Yawkeys were deeply committed to providing cancer patients - especially children - with the best treatment available while also focusing on cutting-edge research for cancer care. Tom served as a Dana-Farber Cancer Institute trustee from 1954 to 1976, during which time he was president of the institution from 1960 to 1969 and chairman of the Board of Trustees from 1969 until his death in 1976. Jean Yawkey was a trustee from 1976 until her death in 1992, and served as chair of the Board of Trustees from 1976 to 1979. Thank you Pan-Mass Challenge for helping us continue this important legacy of giving in the battle against cancer!

Today's PMC Kids Ride program began in 2005 and, over the past 19 years, has raised more than $11 million for Dana-Farber!
