Michigan Public Development

Michigan Public is audience-supported news and that means we are accountable only to you. We stay independent from investors and shareholders because you donate. Our editors and reporters dig deeper, bring more context to the news because we put you first.

Generous financial support from individual gifts, private grants, and sponsorship from Michigan organizations and businesses allows us to remain independent.

Your donation matters.

Michigan Public is a self-sustaining unit of the University of Michigan and our facilities are built primarily through private support with no reliance on state tax dollars, student fees, or general university funds. In addition to offering daily news programming from national and international public radio outlets, such as National Public Radio (NPR) and the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Michigan Public produces and distributes its own local journalism.

We employ 60 full-time staff dedicated to creating journalism content, including reporters, producers, editors, and hosts who work at our headquarters in Ann Arbor and at bureaus in Detroit, Flint, Lansing, and Grand Rapids.
