Ever since the trailer of Mohenjo Daro was released, many predicted its fate at the box office. From factual errors to oh-so-lame costumes, everything about Ashutosh Gowariker's historical drama seemed wrong. And the box-office clash with Akshay Kumar's Rustom only added fuel to the fire. The film sank without a trace. And thus began the blame game. While some people blamed Hrithik Roshan's personal turmoil during the shooting of the film for the film turning out to be a debacle, others questioned the actor's choice of work.

Now, Daddy Rakesh Roshan has jumped to the rescue of his 42-year-old son. The director-producer has taken a potshot at director Ashutosh Gowariker. Papa Roshan has blamed the bad VFX (Visual Effects) for the film's failure and added that things appeared too tacky towards the end of the film.

In an interview to Mid-Day, Senior Roshan said, "Though director Ashutosh Gowariker had a vision, what did not work were the last 20 minutes of the film. The VFX failed it, things appeared tacky. The last few reels of a film always stay in the audience's mind, and that's where the film did not work."

When asked if Hrithik's film got sidelined because of his personal life (the ugly battle with Kangana Ranaut), Roshan said, "What happens in an actor's personal life doesn't impact a film. A good film will do well. Rustom was a good film. In the industry, anyone can side with anyone. Every family has their share of ups and downs, but as we are part of the industry, our turmoil gets highlighted. I know my son, and he has done no wrong. I stand by him."

Roshan, who will soon work with Hrithik in Krrish 4, is in no mood mince words and doesn't want his son to be blamed for Mohenjo Daro's performance at the box office.

This isn't a one-off incident. Several times in the past, we've seen Bollywood stars' parents coming to the rescue of their children. Here are other Bollywood stars who have been rescued by their parents every now and then.

The always apologetic father, Salim Khan

Salman Khan is one man-child who needs to be rescued by dad Salim Khan every now and then. Be it Salman's rape remark or his controversial tweets or the verdict on his cases, Salim has often come to his son's resuce, saving him from the wrath of netizens. Salim has apologised on Twitter on behalf of his son for the latter's insenstive remark on rape during the promotions of Sultan earlier this year, he also lashed out at Milkha Singh for criticising the decision to select Salman as India's goodwill ambassador for the Rio Olympics this year.

Even last year, Salim had to do some damage control as soon as Salman expressed his anger over Yakub Memon's hanging. Soon after Salman's tweet, the actor was trolled and it yet again was Salim's task to pacify everyone on behalf of his son.

Angry, not-so-young father Rishi Kapoor

A few days ago, during the Ganpati Visarjan, Ranbir Kapoor was said to have misbehaved with the media. If reports are to be believed, the Tamasha actor pushed aside a journalist who was asking for bites. But dad Rishi Kapoor immediately jumped to Ranbir's defence and said that Ranbir won't even hurt a fly. And that there was no truth in the report.

The angriest father of 'em all, Aditya Pancholi

Right from the time Sooraj Pancholi's name came up in the Jiah Khan death case, Aditya Pancholi has been one angry man. He has defended his son from all attacks from all quarters, be it the media or Jiah Khan's family.
