About us

At UCHealth, we do things differently. We strive to promote individual and community health and leave no question unanswered along the way. We’re driven to improve and optimize health care. Our network of nationally-recognized hospitals, clinic locations and health care providers extends throughout Colorado, southern Wyoming and western Nebraska. We deliver excellent care close to home, no matter where you might live. Our success is defined by more than our patient volumes or treatment outcomes. It’s about building a team of exceptional people, from our clinical staff to our expert physicians, who consistently do what is right for the individuals we are honored to serve. UCHealth, a 501(c) (3) health system, was formed in 2012 to increase access to innovative and advanced patient care, realize supply chain and IT efficiencies, and to better serve patients throughout the Rocky Mountain region by combining academic-based and community-focused medicine. Together, the clinics and hospitals within UCHealth can offer the most advanced treatments to improve the lives of patients and their families in Colorado and beyond.

Nurse Terah Hochhauser went above and beyond to assist a patient in transitioning from a feeding tube to eating by mouth. She created a motivational sign that read: “Food is medicine. It’s going to help you get out of here. It’s going to help you go home.” She also learned the patient's favorite foods to make the transition a little easier and skipped meal breaks to dine at the patient’s bedside, where they connected over a mutual love for cats. The patient had been in the hospital for weeks after undergoing several surgeries and had been struggling to regain her appetite. With family living far away, she didn’t have loved ones immediately available for support. However, through Terah's dedication and support, the patient's feeding tube was removed and she was able to go home. Thank you, Terah, for your work to improve lives. ♥️

Each weekday morning, hospitality staff at UCHealth Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins help prepare hot and cold meals for the day’s deliveries by Meals on Wheels volunteers. More than 75,000 meals—which follow recommended guidelines from the Aging American Act—are delivered to community members’ homes Monday through Friday, made possible through a 50+ year partnership between the hospital and the nonprofit organization. “It’s convenient, and the food is quite good,” said a 92-year-old recipient. “I frequently eat only a portion of the lunch, so I don’t have to cook much at night.” The program also provides clients and their families with the peace of mind that someone will stop in at their loved one’s home five days a week. Volunteers will alert appropriate parties when they feel something is amiss with a client. “We are often the only people they may see in a day, and this program allows many to stay in their own homes,” said volunteer Liz Hollowell, former member of the Meals on Wheels board and retired director of hospitality for UCHealth Poudre Valley Hospital.

Pueblo's Roselawn Cemetery is the final resting place for approximately 3,000 military veterans who served our country from the Civil War through today. To honor these service members, Jose Ramirez has a mission to locate and document every veteran grave using GPS coordinates. A 25-year veteran of both the Army and Marines, Jose spent much of that time as a special forces member. While placing wreaths at the cemetery in December, Jose learned that Roselawn didn’t know the exact number of veterans who were buried there. As a Next Chapter project manager at UCHealth Southern Colorado Region, Jose decided to change that. Jose hopes to adorn each veteran’s final resting place with a miniature U.S. flag every Memorial Day and a Wreaths Across America wreath each December, ensuring that these veterans continue to be honored and recognized. This is no small task for Jose or Next Chapter; over 66,000 people are buried at Roselawn, some dating back to the 1870s. Jose is utilizing cellphones and special GPS mapping software to facilitate the process. “You can take a picture and drop that picture onto that pin, so you have a marker for future reference. As new veterans are buried there, they can be added to the database.” Jose hopes this opportunity to serve might even be a form of therapy for many veterans who are struggling with their separation from military service. Thank you, Jose, for your work to improve lives. ♥️
