Called Barbary Insurance Brokerage to get a quote but was told the agent was on another call, missed a return call, called back (agent again busy) so scheduled a 2 pm call back. It is now 3 pm and I have heard nothing. Just providing this FYI

I've been doing business with the owner, Jerry Becerra, for almost 13 years now. I first met him when I was managing a motorcycle repair shop in SoMa. He was the guy who wrote the shop's insurance and we hit it off from the start. When I opened my own business, Jerry was the guy that I called and I was with the company he worked for, Pennbroke Insurance, for years. The most memorable thing that happened back then was that my store windows were broken and it turned out that the policy that I had didn't cover it. I was sure that I had mentioned wanting the windows insured but there wasn't any documentation to that effect. Jerry went to bat for me with the insurance company and they covered the windows, despite the lack of coverage on the policy.

Jerry left Pennbroke to start his own company, Barbary Insurance, and, as each of my policies expired, I moved them over to the new company. I couldn't be happier. There aren't many business services that I feel like I can count on 100% but Barbary is one of them. And, for something as important and complicated as insurance, I can't stress how important that is. The other thing that's great about using a broker like Jerry is that he works for me, not the insurance company. That means that I don't ever have to fight with the companies about a claim -- Jerry does it for me. Even if he didn't always give me very reasonable and competitive quotes, it would be worth paying extra for that alone.
