Spot the sparkle! After rainbow dots, GLITTER freckles are the latest make up trend to sweep Instagram - but would you leave the house like this?

  • Glitter freckles are the latest in the faux freckle trend
  • Women are pairing the bold make up look with bright coloured hair and lips
  • They often complement the freckles with bright eye make up
  • The coloured freckle trend was set by vlogger Batalash Beauty

Glitter eye-shadow is a make up trend most were happy to leave behind in the nineties.

But glitter is making a comeback, and there's no accompanying crimped hair in sight.

Trend-setters are covering their face with 'glitter freckles' that they complement with brightly coloured hair, bold eyes and vibrant lips.

The trend sees women cover their nose, cheek bones and around their eyes with tiny dots of glitter.

Some freckles appear to be drawn on with glitter make up, while others stick individual pieces of glitter to their face.

One girl, whose face was covered in purple glitter, captioned her photo: 'll be 80 before I manage to get all this glitter off'.

The glitter freckles come after vlogger Batalash Beauty, also known as Dominique, pioneered the coloured freckle trend in tutorials on her YouTube page.

The beauty lover also posted a range of selfies on Instagram, providing inspiration for fans.

One dramatic look saw Dominique pair a bold red lip with matching dots around her eyes, which she's painted on with a liquid lipstick, as well as a single freckle above the cupid's bow.

She's also experimented with white freckles, which she paired with smoky eye make up and spiky false eyelashes.

Another more futuristic look involves matching freckles in shades of blue to her eyebrows, which are pencilled over in similar hues.

According to Dominique the look is achieved by painting liquid lipstick on the back of the hand and applying the shades with different precision liner or concealer brushes to create a variety of freckle sizes.

She gently dots it on to the face sporadically to mimic the pattern of real freckles.

She recommends a mixture of 20 per cent large freckles, 30 per cent medium and 50 per cent small.

Liquid lipstick tends to stay put once it dries, but she advises a light layer of translucent powder to set for a longer-lasting finish.
