Kangana Ranaut is a Bollywood actor who made her acting debut in 2006 when director Anurag Basu spotted her at a coffee shop in Mumbai and cast her in a leading role in Gangster.

The film released in 2006 and became critically as well as commercially successful with her performance being appreciated.

In 2007, Kangana was seen in Anurag Basu's Life In A... Metro in which her subtle performance earned her positive reviews.

Going forward, she also appeared in Shakalaka Boom Boom as an aspiring singer, which did not fare very well in the box-office.

Her next film was Fashion, starring Priyanka Chopra and Mugdha Godse, which released in 2008. The film was a critical success and Ranaut's portrayal of a drug-crazed supermodel led to her mass appeal. The movie is a landmark in her career so far, since it fetched her a Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award and a National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress.

In 2009, Ranaut acted in the thriller Raaz - The Mystery Continues with Emraan Hashmi. The movie became a commercial success and was declared the first decent hit of 2009. Her next release was Vaada Raha with Bobby Deol which sadly bombed at the box-office.

In 2010, Kangna starred in a lead role alongside Ajay Devgan in one of the year's most successful movies, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai. Kangana also starred in Knock Out and No Problem which did not do much to further her success as an actor, being box-office failures.

In 2011, Kangana was seen opposite R. Madhavan in the romantic comedy Tanu Weds Manu, which was successful at the box office.

Kangana was then cast in the multistarrer Double Dhamaal, the sequel of Dhamaal, which was fairly successful at the box-office.

She later went on to appear in Rascals alongside Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt, which was however a commercial and critical failure. She also appeared in Miley Naa Miley Hum which did not do well at the box-office.

The year 2012 did not start well for Kangana since her movie Tezz alongside Ajay Devgan was a major failure at the box-office. She then appeared in Shootout At Wadala alongside John Abraham and Anil Kapoor in a small role, which nevertheless received positive reviews.

Most recently, Kangana has featured in Krrish 3 with Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra and Vivek Oberoi as an evil mutant Kaya. The film and her performance have met with positive reviews with the film already having crossed the 100 crore mark.

In the future, Kangana is going to be seen in I Love NY opposite Sunny Deol, Rajjo, Revolver Rani, Queen and Ungli.
