EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Magic Johnson had 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists Friday night to lead the Magic Johnson All-Stars to a 104-85 exhibition victory over Michigan State, the school he led to the national championship in 1979.

Johnson, who was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in September, was joined on his team by two other former Michigan State players who won national titles, David Thomas and Mike Chappell.

Johnson's touring team consists of himself and the Canberra Cannons of Australia's National Basketball League.

Chappell, who played for Michigan State from 1999-2001, had 27 points on 9-for-13 shooting, while Thomas, who played for the Spartans from 1996-2001, finished with 18 points.

Paul Davis had 16 points and nine rebounds for Michigan State, which was picked in media and coaches' preseason polls to win the Big Ten, while Chris Hill and Alan Anderson each had 14 points and Maurice Ager, added 12. Earlier Friday, Michigan State guard Kelvin Torbert underwent surgery on his left ankle to remove bone chips. He is expected to be sidelined approximately three weeks.
