Actor Kangana Ranaut is well known as Bollywood's fashionista but while preparing for Vikas Bahl's film Queen , her looks and designer clothes were the last thing on her mind. On her visit to India Today Mediaplex, on Tuesday, Kangana described how she found her character of a timid girl from Rajouri Garden completely mesmerising.

"The girl that I play in this film is completely opposite from what I am. I have always been independent and confident, but, this girl is so unsure about her life. She is neither confident about her decisions, nor has any firm opinion on anything," said Kangana.

Accompanied by Rajkumar Rao, her co-star in the movie and director Vikas Bahl, Kangana described working in Queen as an emotional experience. She said she enjoyed playing the shy, unsure de-glam Delhi girl from Rajouri Garden, who goes on a honeymoon all by herself.

"I instantly connected with the role. While reading the script the first thought that came to my mind was how I would interpret it on screen. I did not think how I would dress or how I would look like," says Kangana.

"The biggest challenge for me was to be in the character and convince the audience of the insecurities that this girl faces in her life," she adds.

"I remember, one day I wore false eyelashes on the sets. Vikas instantly spotted it and asked me to remove them. That was the best part of working in this film, that I had to experiment facing the camera without any makeup," she said.

Kangana will only be seen in bland kurtis and jeans which she teams with an old-fashioned cardigan.

The film's director Bahl made a mark with his film Chillar Party, and with his latest film based on an offbeat subject, Bahl wants to push the envelope further. "I simply hope that the film works and the audience enjoys a simple story. I also hope that it works at the box office and makes money," said Bahl.
