MYSORE: Even as Dasara festivities are about three months away, the Dasara committee is preparing to observe ‘nada habba’ on a grand scale with an eye on giving a boost to tourism and thus economy in the region. A meeting has been convened on Thursday at the Bal Bhavan here.

Dasara celebrations were low-key the last two years due to drought and Veerappan saga. Tourism and information technology minister D.B. Inamdar, horticulture minister M. Shivanna, information minister Allum Veerabhadrappa and Kannada and culture minister Rani Satish will attend the meeting chaired by Dasara executive committee vice president and district in-charge minister H. Vishwanath.

Mysore City Corporation commissioner A.B. Ibrahim, who is also deputy special officer for Dasara festivities, told The Times of India that efforts are on to make Dasara grand this year. Vishwanath held a preliminary meeting to discuss preparations. Authorities are also planning to give a new look to the city in the meanwhile, with more parks and other spots of interest.

The administration is serious about attracting tourists to revive the hospitality and other service industries. Meanwhile, the Mysore Travel Agents Association asked the government to celebrate ‘nada habba’ on a grand scale as it is related to tourism sector. The association has sought air connectivity to Mysore.
