Karnataka: KREDL tenders 1.2 GW of solar PV

KREDL has tendered a 1.2 GW of  grid-connected ground-mounted solar PV projects to be installed in the Pavagada Solar Park, located in Tumakuru District of Karnataka. Overall, it envisages the installation of 24 systems (blocks) totaling 50 MW each.

The blocks will be developed under a “Build-Own-Operate” (BOO) basis in the open category, i.e. domestic content is not a requirement. BOO is a project model under which a private entity receives a concession from the private or public sector, or government to finance, design, construct, own, and operate a solar facility.

Meanwhile, a developer can set up a PV plant as a ‘block’, with a minimum 25 MW capacity at one location, and pool two of the blocks together, before connecting to the Central Transmission Utility (CTU) substation. Two blocks are called as a ‘Package’.

The generated electricity will be sold to the Electricity Supply Companies  (ESCOMs) of Karnataka for a period of 25 years.

Developers may bid for a minimum of 50 MW, and a maximum of 1.2 GW. The online bid submission is due on February 19, 2018. However, the deadline for submitting a Techno-Commercial bid in hard copy is February 21.

As of December 2017, Karnataka had commissioned 2.2 GW of solar in the state.
