The Shelby County District Attorney’s Office says that “information indicates” that Memphis Police Officer Joseph McKinney was killed by friendly fire rather than the two teenage suspects who reportedly fired at officers early Friday morning.
The family and friends of Christian “Kit” Martin at first lied to detectives when investigators were searching for a mysterious box that they would later learn contained weapons belonging to the convicted murderer, a WSMV4 Investigation found.
“Anyone that may have fallen victim to this scam or sees a ticket like this on their vehicle should call 615-862-8600 and report it to a Fraud Unit detective.”
Judge Myles did not indicate whether she was inclined to order Metro to release the redated journal, as Metro told the court their investigation should conclude in July.
The weapons, including a silencer and an AR-15, were stashed inside stairs leading up the attic of a home where Christian “Kit” Martin lived with his former fiancé in Raleigh, North Carolina.
She rushed over to him, “I couldn’t save him. I tried stopping him. I tried so hard. The only thing that I could do is say ‘Please, hang on baby...’ he literally tried to spit out ‘I love you too’ but you could see it in his eyes he knew what I was saying.”
“After a thorough inspection, they deemed the untouched portion of the bridge safe to cross, but the right lane of the road will remain closed until the necessary repairs can be made.”
