Mervo High football player dies after being injured in a game

BALTIMORE (WBFF) — A Baltimore City Public Schools student-athlete has died, a little over three weeks after being injured in a football game.

Mergenthaler High School football player, senior Elijah Gorham, passed away, confirmed the city school system today.

Elijah was injured in a Sept. 18 game against Dunbar High School.

He was hospitalized for a brain injury.

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott said in a statement that "he was a young man full of promise with an infectious spirit. Elijah's passing is an unspeakable tragedy."
