Celebrating I.M. Pei, architect of the JFK Library, the Pyramid at the Louvre, and many more, on his birthday today. In describing the JFK Library for the Dedication Program held on October 20, 1979, he wrote: "Its openness is the essence....In the reflective mood that the architecture seeks to engender, [visitors] may find themselves thinking of John F. Kennedy in a different way. In the skyline of his city, in the distant horizons toward which he led us, in the canopy of space into which he launched us, visitors may experience revived hope and promise for the future." In March, JFK Presidential Library Director Alan Price welcomed the Moonshot Club from Harvard Kennedy School for a tour and special session with Museum staff about about President Kennedy’s space program.
