The book arrived undamaged, and in good used condition. I was given a copy of this book in November 1968 when I got married, I still have my original copy but its so badly worn and falling to bits I wanted another copy, this used copy, its a brilliant cook book and well worth the money, I paid I am glad to have an old friend back, although I am keeping ,my original copy, but working now from my recently purchased copy.

Great Dishes of the World by Robert Carrier

Praise for this long-standing success is of course unnecessary. It has lost nothing of its wide-ranging interest and fascination over time.

Illustrations, text, all excellent and absorbing and wide-ranging reading for anyone acquainted with cooking - it is as fresh after all these years as ever. An old friend that the years have have treated kindly.

Buy it, read it, use it, pass it on to friends, and encourage even poor cooks to turn to it: your experience when invited out can then only improve. A perfect instrument to use to elevate the world of dinner parties or even quiet suppers!

I have used this cookery book since the 70's. I return time and time again for superb recipes. What an excellent chef Robert Carrier was. He would have been a real celebrity star today if he was around. However, my copy is now so worn and literally falling apart. So I was over the moon to find good used copies still available and snapped up two in very good condition. One for me and one for my daughter. Given how long the original copy lasted, this one should see me out!

Ive been looking for this for some time as my own copy (from the 1960s) really had reached the end of its useful life. The recipes are old-fashioned for modern times but some of these dishes are really the best Ive tasted. Robert Carrier cooks with plenty of cream and butter; the recipes are reliable, flavoursome, probably unhealthy by todays standards, - OK for the special occasion - but wonderfully rich and luxurious. Try the recipe for steak and kidney pie, you'll never find a better one. great for dedicated foodies who like leafing through the great chefs.

Sorry to down grade this book, it is not full size and is a paperback. But that is my fault for ordering the wrong version.

This little hardback book is a wonderful replacement for my worn oId worn out paperback copy. It is the same in size, content, illustrations and page by page receipes ..... I didn't have to learn to find my favourites!
Whilst it is not the easiest book out, it is fantastic in content.

I ordered this hard cover edition because my much loved and used soft cover version was getting very tattered with many loose pages. When this second hand book arrived it was in pristine condition and I was thrilled.

It has so many beautiful illustrations and easy to follow recipes and cooking information.

We grew up on Robert Carrier who combines style, taste, and great menus. But we lost our copy so it was very pleasing to be able to get another copy through Amazon. And our paella is back on track
